Now you can take a small Solikamsk sight-seeing
tour.
There are many places of interest in Solikamsk because it is a very old town.
The Solikamsk Museum of Regional Ethnography, one of largest in
Perm region, contains more than 20,000 exhibits. It also has a scientific archive and a library.
Regional ethnographers collect and carefully keep materials that restore historical events and names of the people who
glorified this land. In 1986 a unique "Museum of Salt", the very salt which gave rise to the city, was opened in
Solikamsk.
The architectural heritage of Solikamsk could be equated to that of such great ancient Russian
cities as Vladimir, Pskov, and Novgorod.
In the 18th century for less than 50 years city masters created a splendid stone ensemble of beautiful cathedrals, churches,
and bell towers, and some of them have been preserved to our times. Co-existence of centuries fascinates and astonishes
visitors of the city. Solikamsk monuments are evidence of the brilliant talent and painstaking
labor of Solikamsk craftsmen: Loginko,
Korsakov, brothers Myasnikovs and other architects. These
monuments are also evidence of the great skill of unknown stone-masons, carpenters, carvers, and icon painters.
The story about Solikamsk would be incomplete without mentioning of picturesque nature of its
environs. They are the mighty Kama, the fifth river in length in Europe, the majestic
beautiful Vishera River, expensive lakes, enormous woods.
