Hominid species - the evolution timeline

A timeline

Who is man? In my personal opinion, we will never be able to give exact answer. However, we can reduce the problem and to consider man from only biological point of view, e.g. as a biological being. Then, according to biological classification, man belongs to :
Phylum:
Chordata
Subphylum:
Vertebrata
Class:
Mammalia
Order:
Primates
Suborder:
Anthropoidea
Superfamily:
Hominoidea
Family:
Hominidae
Genus:
Homo
Species:
Homo sapiens sapiens
How humans evolved? The animation above gives an outline of that very long process. Read my summary of the basic stages of human evolution and you will easily understand the evolution timeline showed in the animation. Not all of the known hominid species are mentioned in the summary though, only main ones. However, if you visit my paleoanthropology links, you will have an opportunity to learn about human origins in much more details.
The Chimpanzee:
-- No, no, no, don't give me that! Where are arguments of our relationship?
The arguments are in Africa! Look at the map showing main fossil localities and read brief description of hominid species.
